What a start to the morning! First I cut myself shaving, then, when opening a drawer, I punch myself solidly in the face.
I’m fine.
Going down to breakfast was farcical – both restaurants full up and far too busy. So I headed over to McDonalds instead.
Note to the Radisson: if your guests are heading to McDonalds for breakfast or dinner, you’re doing something horribly wrong. I’ll be writing a letter about this (and especially about those far too low chairs you have in the Trunk and Bijou bar/restaurants).
Breakfast sorted, I went to the first free-for-all photo opportunity for the day. The crew looked surprised that (a) I hadn’t claimed any autographs and (b) that I hadn’t any photos taken yet either. I explained I don’t do autographs (well, I don’t) and was busy yesterday (somewhat of a lie).
From the experience of the photo sessions today, Sunday seems to be the best day to get them. Went as smooth as butter. Got all seven guests within an hour with very little queuing. The results of which follow.

That’s where I’ve left things. I’ve not gone to the other talks or to the closing ceremony. I think I’ve taken what I’ve wanted from the convention and that’s good enough for me.
I’d like to thank the crew at Massive Events for their extraordinary hard work. It’s not gone quite as smooth as I thought it would, but nevertheless they never wavered and were super helpful.
Would I do this again? Possibly not.
I set out to see if conventions were my thing, but I don’t think they are. I am, however, giving serious consideration to the 2015 London Screenwriters’ Festival instead. What I have discovered is that a hotel room is a rather lovely place to write and I really do want to hone up my screenwriting skills. So that seems a better investment to me than a general convention such as this.
