Today saw me back at work after a lovely long Easter weekend that saw me off work from last Thursday through to Tuesday. I didn’t get up to much other than have the back garden tidied on the Thursday.
The poor old archway at the back of the garden had become rotten after all the rain and the wind. Given that it’s been there for at least eight years, it’s done well to last this long. It also meant the climber had to go as well, but to be honest, I’m not that sorry to see the back of it. I now have an unobscured view of my whole back garden. Hoorah.
The rest of the time was spent slouched in front of the gogglebox catching up with movies and TV via the Sky+HD box, Netflix and Amazon Instant Video.
…
Anyway, today saw me head back to work. I flung on the exercise kit and made off with big strides along the canal into Woking where I went to buy my train ticket for the forthcoming month.
Alas! Either I’m getting an early onset of dementia or the lack of decent exercise for the past month overheated my poor little old brain to the point where I forgot ALL my card PINs. All of them. I spent a good 10 minutes at Woking station trying to figure out what the PINs were for my credit and debit cards. I always put my monthly ticket on the credit card and repay it as soon as I reach payday.
I gave up trying to remember the credit card numbers (and indeed, locked one of them out completely) and just bought a single one-way to Guildford just to get me there on time for the shuttle bus to work.
Thankfully I still remembered the debit card and got a one-way into Guildford. From there I managed to use the iPad to retrieve the PINs from the respective credit card companies’ web sites (thank goodness they’ve moved out the era of dinosaurs and having to resend cards or PINs through the post) and buy my monthly train ticket.
Personally I can’t wait to start using biometric authentication instead of remembering 90 billion PINs and passwords. We’re a very long way off from that becoming common practice, however.
