The Secret Service

Looks like Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s The Secret Service (just look at that cast list – just look!) is shooting mere yards away from where I work.

Update (1st November): Nope – the 747/private plane was a bit of red herring, apparently. That’s being used for the forthcoming Stephen Hawking movie, allegedly (how, why, I don’t know).

No, this:

is essentially what they are doing (the above is a practice run from September) – except they’ve turned much of the track into looking like a typical street in London (lighting, bus stop, bus, etc.) and doing shooting it at night. I’d imagine VFX will be introduced somewhere amongst all that.

Lots of exciting things happening involving the big white 747 (which has moved from its usual spot to the main runway) and a small private plane with the Swiss flag on its tail fin, with numerous film crew milling around both planes and under a blue canopy – probably covering the video kit (monitors, DI, etc). Film trucks all over the shop, including a white catering bus and catering unit nearby. Greenscreen set-ups too. It’s all go. Loads and loads and loads of trailers parked at the other side of the track. All very big-budget, but not glamorous – it’s wet, the sky’s still overcast and it’s bloody cold.

Bloody good to see Jane and Matthew working again after the excellent X-Men: First Class, and even better to see them working on another Mark Millar project at that.

I’ve absolutely no idea what’s going on here at the moment, but will look forward to seeing whatever they’re shooting here when the film comes out next year.
