Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) plays John William’s Epic Movie Themes

Yesterday I popped down to Bournemouth to watch the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra perform some of composer John William’s most famous (and epic) movie themes.

They were very, very, very, very good.

They kicked off with the theme to Superman:

We then had Jaws and Memories of a Geisha.  This was quickly followed up by a melody of themes from the Star Wars universe. Luckily I came prepared:

It was then time for a Diet Coke break.  Unfortunately they did not have Throatwobbler Mangrove (or even Raymond Luxury-Yacht) named bottles, and ended up with this instead:

Peter Harness, screenwriter of one of this year’s Doctor Who episodes, Wallander, and the forthcoming super-mega BBC production of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell dared me to call me out on this:

rosietruthThe BSO then began on some other franchises, one of which I’ve been involved with for a number of years – going back and forth between Leavesden Studios to ensure that the VFX pipeline ran smoothly.  I am, of course, referring to Harry Potter:

After a wonderful rendition of several of Jurassic Park themes, it was time for the grand finale.  And what a finale it was.  E.T. – The Extra Taramosalata – I mean Terrestrial.
